Sandbach Park Project News
Sandbach Park Project Update Autumn 2011
This year the Steering Group has taken forward two main projects. In April a play area for children ages 6 to 15 years was provided, and in early September a play area for toddlers up to 8 years was opened within the sensory garden.
The Steering Group will now proceed to other projects and work is likely to start in 2012/2013. Projects have been selected taking into account the needs of all age groups (including the feedback from consultations exercises undertaken in 2009 and 2011) and having regard to the overall environmental impact on the park.
Projects will include –
Ø A multi-use games area (“MUGA”) to include tennis and other sports.
Ø An outdoor gym (carefully selected pieces of equipment)
Ø Picnic tables (near the MUGA and outdoor gym area)
Ø Replacement skate park facility.
Ø Improvements to the pond and wetlands area.
Ø Improvements to the paths around the park.
More information will be provided about the progress of each project as and when resources allow and details will be posted on park notice boards and published through local newspapers.
The Steering Group wishes to stress that in developing projects the needs of all park users will be the guiding factor. The support given by the public, Cheshire East Council and its officers, Sandbach Town Council and the Friends of Sandbach Park is very much appreciated.

All are welcome
Friends of Sandbach Park are holding an open meeting at Sandbach Library on Friday morning 10am till 11am all are welcome.
A subsequent meeting in December debated the constitution and a sub group was formed to complete the draft constitution, which will be proposed to the group on 13 th January 2011.
A major objective of the Friends of the Park will be to engage with young people to use the park in a positive manner and to work with community groups to stage various events in the park.
In addition the Partnership has submitted a stage 1 bid to the big Lottery fund to obtain a match fund grant to purchase play equipment for toddlers and young children.
Sandbach Partnership and Ryder Landscape Consultants Ltd produced a first draft of the Concept Design for Sandbach Park in March 2010. The designs were based on the views expressed by park users and local residents through the consultation exercises undertaken earlier. The designs included some exciting proposals relating to children’s play, youth facilities, adult recreation, environmental improvements, and visitor and event infrastructure.
Ryder Landscape Consultants then proposed two schemes (draft concept plans) for developing the park and the public were asked to choose which one they felt met the needs of all sectors of the community. The final feedback from this consultation enabled Ryder to finalise proposals and cost the master plan.
