On Saturday the 8th September, Sandbach Town Centre will again be full of music, bells and hankies!
Local residents Lynn Purcell and Ray Archer – Morris Dancers themselves – have again organised their traditional Morris Dancing day to take place in Sandbach town centre, with Morris teams coming from arround the region.
Performances will start at 11:00am and continue – with a short break for lunch – until 3:30pm. This year’s event will run alongside the Town’s popular Farmers Market with dance teams performing around the market as well as outside the Old Hall.
The free event, which has received grants from Sandbach Town Council and Cheshire East Council, will be a lively, colourful diplay of some of the different types of Morris Dancing, such as Cotswold Morris with hankies and bells, North West, with dancers in clogs and Border Morris with their disguised faces. It is hoped the day will attract an even larger number of both local spectators and visitors from further afield than last year’s event.
Bringing the day to a fun conclusion, will be a Ceilidh (English Country Dance) at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College on Middlewich Road, Sandbach, with nationally renowned band ALL BLACKED UP and their caller BAZ PARKES.
This will be a family event, open to the public, which everyone can enjoy and either have a go or just sit and listen to the wonderful folk music, with tickets at £10 for adults and £5 for children under 12. 7:30 to 11:00pm with bar.
For ceilidh tickets or more information about the day, contact: Sandbach Day of Dance Phone: 01270 765376 or Email: sandbach [dot] ceilidhs [at] btinternet [dot] com
