Sandbach Partnership are running dementia friend’s information sessions during Dementia Action Week (between 21st and 27th May) as part of their initiative to establish Sandbach as a dementia friendly community. Three local residents, Dot Flint, Sandbach Partnership Chair, and local Rotarian Jane Spencer and Dave Whitworth were recently trained in Crewe as Dementia Friends Champions to run these and future information sessions in Sandbach.
David Whitworth is running free ‘Dementia Friends’ Information Sessions on Monday 21st May and Wednesday 23rd May and is looking for local people to come along.
Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, talks and acts about the condition.
Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.
The one-hour session on Monday 21st May will take place at Sandbach Enterprise Centre at 10am. The Session on Wednesday 23rd May will take place at Sandbach Enterprise Centre at 10am.
Anyone wanting to attend the Dementia Friends Session should contact Sandbach Partnership 01270 752124. People can also get involved in Dementia Friends through an online video. Go to dementiafriends.org.uk to find out more.
